Named after one of the most ancient powerful tribes in the world from West African (to be exact Ghana) Asante Records emphasises on soulful house much with a bit of jazz, ancestry, traditional dance music and experimental elements to it. His path to seek spiritual enlightment has led to his vision for encouraging means of communication through music.
Asante Records first set of releases has needed create great awareness of the label within the house music industry. The few artists and producers released on the label has created a stream of talents willing to work with Asante Records.
This journey of Asante Records become when Ernest Roots (A & R Director) realised a gap in the soulful music industry that blends a feel of good music that stands time. ‘there is not point in dancing to a song today and tomorrow you find it borrow, every song should have the ability to stand the test of time, memorable and create a story among music lovers’ he says.
The first release on the label is a sampler featuring tracks by Jihad Muhammad, Joe Flame, Joi Cardwell and Sis N’ Jones. With further releases from Marlon D, Ian Friday, Roots and Anto Vitale to name a few.
‘I hate the invincible red tape created by djs and promoters that only play and hire famous djs and producers work, Asante Records aims to release projects by the big names and the unknown or upcoming names; we have to blend these elements to encourage the growth of this industry. The house music industry is a very small community and therefore has to create that element of growth and not hindering the movement.
Asante Records will inspire the established and upcoming artists and producers in the house much industry.
